The album from 2023 that I return to most often. Crushing, heavy, classic. Yob meets Crazy Horse but much darker.

“Wound opens a portal to a world of only churning bleakness whose atmosphere will slowly crush you. It's fantastic.” - Metal Injection
“The music is heavy and heaving, pounding and pernicious. It’s laced with trippy psychedelic squeals and wails out of the throat of the guitar and further doses of ruinous vocals from the throats of all three members of the band.” - No Clean Singing
“The rest of the album builds on this devastation to create a cathartic listening experience unlike any you’re likely to encounter as we move into the dark days of fall.” - Doomed & Stoned
“God damn, Ghorot, leave some nasty for the rest of the class… The really scary shit is these guys’ll probably do another record after this one. Yikes.” - The Obelisk
“At its instrumental core, the Boise, Idaho three-piece is very much a Doom Metal band but lyrically and vocally brings in the Black Metal influences to further spice up their sound. And just like a Doom Metal record, this one runs just shy of forty minutes yet only five tracks long… just the way that dark dish is meant to be served.” - Ghost Cult Magazine
“Wound is a statement of brutal intent where the band have built upon from their acclaimed debut album both musically and creatively speaking. This is a mature and sometimes more violent offering where Ghorot are masters of their own domain.” - Outlaws of the Sun
“These are hefty slabs of blackened doom that never overstay their welcome but last long enough for ideas to be fleshed out and properly realised. Everything is given the opportunity to breathe and exist, without feeling rushed or forced and it makes this album – however violent it is – a pleasure to experience.” - Distorted Sound Magazine
“The crushing vemon of Ghorot, whose Loss of Light was one of my favorite albums of 2021, is back. And not only has it returned, it has done so bearing quite a hefty load of spaced-out sloppiness… Kind of if stoner metal was evil and not, you know, distracted.” - Machine Music
“The bleakest of sounds, Ghorot’s experimental mix of abrasive noise, suffocating doom, and blackened heaviness is misery incarnate. What they deliver on Wound is disconcerting and challenging, but it is mesmerising.” -Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life
GHOROT is a Blackened Doom-Metal Trio from the High Desert of Boise, ID. Devastatingly heavy in both tonality and structure,
Ghorot strives to defiantly coalesce the dominions of sludge, doom, stoner, and black metal into a behemoth of sonic ferocity.

What an impressive piece of black metal. This one-man hurricane is pure art. Sgah‘gahsowáh creates an haunting atmosphere. He puts so much soul in his music. Sælzer Bub
Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ
Produced by Converge's Kurt Ballou, the metal band's fourth LP channels tragic, transcendental themes into fierce progressive sludge metal. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 28, 2024
